Audi is rumored to be readying a new S3 Plus model that will feature a new 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 375 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The German automaker approached Friedrich Eichler, the man responsible for engineering AMG’s powerful four-cylinder that is being used in the CLA 45 and GLA 45 models, and asking him to tune Volkswagen’s existing 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to new heights. The first vehicle to receive the powerplant will be an S3 model slotted between the standard S3 and the RS3.

If the S3 Plus, as it’s being called, becomes a reality, expect the next-generation RS3 to be even more powerful than 375 hp. The powerplant is also expected to be used in the new VW Scirocco and Golf R Evo.
