Lexus LX Offroad Racing Program Axed

Lexus USA has decided to cancel its LX offroad racing program effective for the 2014 season and onward.

The news doesn’t come officially from the Japanese automaker, so the reasoning behind the cancellation is unknown. But rather one of the Team Lexus drivers confirmed that he will no longer be competing for Lexus come this season.

It would be tough to say if the Japanese automaker cancelled its racing program due to poor results, considering Joe Bacal’s JTGrey won the Stock Full class in the International Baja 1000 last year with the Lexus LX race car. It was actually the third time in five years that Bacal’s team won the 1,000-mile offroad race including back to back wins in 2012 and 2013.
