Ford Recalling 282K Sedans Over Corrosion, Floor Mats
Following a recall of 1.1 million SUVs this morning, Ford has also announced a recall of about 282,500 sedan models for two different issues.
Nearly 200,000 Taurus sedans from the 2010 to 2014 model year are being recalled for corrosion issues. In areas where road salt is used, corrosion can cause the license plate lamp to short circuit, overheat and possibly cause a fire. Ford knows of 18 fires that started because of this issue, one of which a customer put out by hand, suffering an injury in the process.

The second recall affects the 2006 to 2011 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ. In those cars, the floor mats can be improperly installed in such a way as to stick the accelerator pedal. Ford knows of two accidents related to this problem.
Ford will notify owners and fix both issues free of charge.
