Get ready, the McLaren P1 is about to get even more amazing!

Already rumored to run the Nurburgring in under 6:47, the British automaker wants to continue going head-to-head with Ferrari. Most recently, rumors spread that the track-only Ferrari LaFerrari XX lapped the ‘Ring in 6:35. Now McLaren is reportedly prepping its own track-day special to challenge that time.

The more hardcore P1 will be extremely limited, likely in the range of 25 to 50 units, and will be offered to all P1 owners.

No pricing accompanied the rumors, but it’s a safe bet that it runs more than the P1’s $1.15 million price tag. The British automaker will shed some pounds off the weight by removing unnecessary components in the interior and electronics department while retaining the hybrid system that makes the P1 such a venerable supercar.

While these are rumors, they’re likely to be true given the LaFerrari XX that’s on the horizon.
