Next Monday, Audi will be demonstrating its progress towards autonomous driving in public.

The German automaker will have its A7 model demonstrate the initial version of Audi’s Piloted driving technology on Tampa’s Selmon Expressway in Florida. The technology, which is called Traffic Jam Pilot, could be available to consumers within five years, Audi believes.

The company will be the first to test its technology on the freeway, which has been designated as an automated driving and connected car test bed. The A7 will demonstrate its abilities to handle driving functions on freeway conditions up to 40 mph.

In 2012, Governor Scott signed HB 1207 into law, which allowed the test of autonomous vehicles in the state of Florida.
