Audi Readying Stop-and-Go Autonomous Driving

Audi will debut its autonomous driving technology “very soon.”

According to a report from Bloomberg, the German automaker will begin rolling out its technology to enable autonomous driving up to speeds of 37 mph. The self-driving system will take over steering, braking and accelerating in stop-and-go traffic and will be available “very soon” according to Audi’s Chief Financial Officer Axel Strotbek.

Numerous automakers are beginning to unveil their autonomous driving technology, with Cadillac most recently announcing that an autopilot-style cruise control will be added to its lineup starting with the 2017 model year. Mercedes-Benz new S-Class offers stop-and-go autopilot through 12 ultrasonic detectors, five cameras and six radar sensors allowing it to match the speed of the vehicle in front of it.
