2016 Mazda6 Gains Fresh Features and Design

The Mazda6 is a leader in the sedan segment but the company is not about to let this mainstay model go stale. They’ve given it a nice refresh for the 2016 model year, which made its world debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new Mazda6 features improved functionality, enhanced looks and a quieter interior. All of these changes were made without sacrificing quietness or comfort.

The car’s interior benefits from numerous updates, the most significant of which is a restyled instrument panel and center console. Keeping an eye on the small things, designers and engineers worked to minimize the gaps between interior components. Additionally the car offers Mazda Connect, the company’s next-generation infotainment technology. For added convenience there’s an electric parking brake, a first for the firm.

Outside the 2016 Mazda6 wears a revised grille with a more three-dimensional look as well as new LED headlamps and a shark-fin antenna. Nine body colors are available including several new hues.

The only engine on the menu remains a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Fortunately it’s available with either a manual or automatic transmission; both have six forward gears.

On the road this sedan should delight drivers with reduced NVH levels. Supposedly ruckus entering the cabin has been reduced by around 10 percent on rough roads and 25 percent on smooth highways.

Bolstering its already strong reputation for safety the 2016 Mazda6 also comes with the company’s i-Activsense suite of safety equipment, which includes things like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and smart brake support.
