Hyundai looks like it is preparing to take performance engineering much more seriously.

The Korean automaker has hired Albert Biermann, former chief engineer for BMW’s M performance group, to develop performance models in addition to improving ride and handling throughout the Hyundai lineup. Biermann’s official title at Hyundai will be executive vice president, making him the second-highest foreign executive after design chief Peter Schreyer, who came from Audi.
