BMW will focus on lighting technology at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.

The German luxury manufacturer said today that it plans to unveil a new version of the laser headlight technology that debuted on the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. By combining the especially bright and far-reaching lights with cameras and sensors, the lights will be able to automatically adapt to traffic. BMW didn’t offer details about its plans for the new headlights, but said they will open “the prospect of numerous new functions in the future.”

Aside from brighter forward-facing beams, the German brand also plans to showcase its latest developments in OLEDs and how it might apply the technology to rear taillights in the future. Last year at CES, BMW unveiled its Vision Future Luxury concept (pictured) that it used to display OLEDs in automotive applications by being especially thin. BMW says its OLED rear lights are only 1.4 millimeters thick and are able to activate individual modules to allow designers greater flexibility in what the lights can do.
