Can Honda win back automotive enthusiasts with its new Civic Type R?

Based on looks and performance alone, it’s arguable that the worst thing about the Civic Type R is that the company won’t confirm if it will ever head to the U.S. The especially hot hatch is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning 305 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque that’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

When developing the Civic Type R, Honda wanted to make it the fastest front-wheel drive car around the Nüburgring and so far, so good. The company didn’t announce an official lap time in the production car yet, but in testing it has turned in a 7:50 mark that would claim the crown.
