Subaru has announced pricing and updates for both of its 2016 WRX models.

2016 Subaru WRX pricing starts at $27,390 including destination, a $300 increase over the outgoing model. The WRX STI is now $200 more expensive, starting at $35,490 including destination. The top-trim WRX Limited model maxes out at $32,390, while the most expensive WRX STI costs $40,790.

The 2016 WRX will now be available with Subaru’s EyeSight safety system which brings along adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist. The safety suite can only be had on the WRX Limited model with a CVT. As for safety tech on the WRX STI, the top-end Limited trim will now come standard with blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.

Every single WRX trim will benefit from an upgraded infotainment unit. The base WRX now has a 6.2-inch screen that runs Subaru’s Starlink system which includes satellite radio, a CD player, Bluetooth, a USB port and a backup camera as standard features. Included in a $2,100 package is the upgraded 7-inch Starlink system, which comes with multi-touch gestures, SMS text messaging, iTunes tagging ability and dual USB ports. An upgraded 9-speaker premium sound system is also part of that package. On the WRX STI, getting the upgraded stereo system package brings with it keyless access and push button start, all for $2,600.

One visual change was made and that is the availability of a low-profile trunk spoiler as a no cost option on the WRX STI Limited.

All of the vitals for these two cars remain the same, with the WRX still getting its 268 hp from a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine and the STI getting its power 305 hp from a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The WRX is available with either a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission while the WRX STI can only be had with a manual.
