This left-hand drive prototype was spotted in all of its camouflaged glory, previewing the upcoming hot hatch from Honda. Powered by a turbocharged VTEC 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the Civic Type R will make 305 hp and can hit 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds. It also boasts a record-setting Nurburgring lap time of just 7:50, the fastest time ever recorded for a front-wheel-drive car.
This prototype was spotted with three outrageous-looking exhaust pipes, massive Brembo brakes and sporty wheels and tires. It’s clear Honda is pulling all the stops when it comes to making the fastest Civic it can. The upcoming Type R will use this unique fastback body style, will use a front-wheel drive setup, and will only be available with a manual transmission.
