The BMW X4 M40i has leaked ahead of its official debut in November at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The X4 M40i has been spied testing earlier this year, but now that it has been fully exposed, we can see its more aggressive styling compared to the standard model. The X4 M40i aims to bridge the gap between the standard X4 models and the eventual X4 M, meaning the X4 M40i will have M Performance styling, larger brakes, sportier suspension and more performance. Powering the X4 M40i is a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine delivering 360 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. That’s a decent upgrade compared to the X4 xDrive35i’s 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque.

While not confirmed, the powerplant is expected to be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission while xDrive all-wheel drive should be standard. Expect a zero-to-62-mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph for the SUV.

Expect an X3 M40i to be introduced sometime in the near future as well. As for the full-blown X3 M and X4 M models, BMW hasn’t confirmed that they’re in development, but BMW M boss Franciscus van Meel has hinted at the possibility. It is more likely that they’ll arrive with the next-generation’s compact SUV platform.
