How does a 500-horsepower, all-electric Bentley sports coupe sound to you?

Now that the Bentley Bentayga is complete, the British automaker is looking ahead to its next model and one of the possibilities is an all-electric sports car based on the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. Revealed earlier this year at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, it has been rumored that the model would eventually head to production.

According to CEO Wolfgang Durheimer, “The customer response to EXP 10 Speed 6 was phenomenal, and we want to build on this and make it a reality.” He went on to tease that Bentley is seriously considering alternative powertrains, including the idea of being full electric with power output between 400 to 500 hp.

The other candidate would be to build on the Bentayga and making a “more performance-enhanced version.” Think of a BMW X6-styled offering from Bentley if the automaker chooses to capitalize on the crossover and SUV segment.

Durheimer also admitted that the recent Volkswagen diesel scandal has made electric powertrains more attractive compared to conventional fuels, hinting that the Volkswagen Group will focus its efforts in developing more powerful and affordable electric vehicles.
