Here's What People Are Saying About the 2018 Toyota Camry (NSFW)

The 2018 Toyota Camry debuted at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show this week, and gained a lot of attention for its looks.

While the last generation Camry was decidedly edgy looking, this new generation model is very aggressive looking. Riding on a new architecture and sporting some new wrinkles to its powertrain like an eight-speed automatic transmission, it’s hard to put into words just how it makes us feel, but some of our YouTube commenters have strong opinions on the popular Japanese car, and we just had to share them.

Below is our video and comments, but be warned, we don’t censor our commenters, and a few may have saltier language than you’re used to on our pages.

The general consensus is that the new Camry has a lot of Lexus going on in the front end:

And some people really fell for the new look.

Although some people aren’t sold on that front end at all…

And some people think the car is just plain ugly (and apparently as bad as Acura)

Either way, some people are definitely stunned by the new look sedan.

I think kids are designing these vehicles. Many adults and aging people aren't looking for a sleek sports car but rather a modest clean looking sedan with a sensible front grille, not like a gaping catfish. Get a 50yo on the design team. Stop following the herd! One can't distinguish one make from another. Guaranteed adults would flock to buy a sensible looking sedan.

I was about to comment then saw Cindy's comments below. I totally agree. I've owned a Camry soon after they came out. They were boxy but a lot nicer looking than the 2015,6,7,8,9. Front grille is absolutely ugly, and like Cindy, I will not trade in for a new one. Remember the first Camry with a sensible grille? If Toyota put out a car more resembling that, they would corner the market. I saw a 2019 Lexus with a different grille that looked nice but can't afford Lexus. I hope designers have an Epiphany for 2020 and design a front end that's not all pieces of plastic. I'm starting to look elsewhere
