2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid Available Early April Priced From $52,935
The 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid is the brand’s first-ever hybrid SUV.
Heading to dealerships in early April with a starting price of $52,935 including destination, the 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid delivers 31 more horsepower than the conventionally powered MDX SH-AWD, while returning a 45-percent higher EPA city fuel economy rating. It also comes at a cost of only $1,500 more than the MDX SH-AWD.
The MDX Sport Hybrid takes advantage of the Japanese automaker’s innovative three-motor Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, which was first introduced on the RLX Sport Hybrid and also used in the NSX supercar.

Along with its Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain with three electric motors, the MDX Sport Hybrid is unique compared to its non-hybrid counterpart thanks to an advanced Electro Servo braking system, new and model-exclusive Active Damper technology and an expanded-range Integrated Dynamics System with four distinct modes, including the new Sport+ mode.
The gasoline engine residing under the hood is a 3.0-liter SOHC i-VTEC V6 engine and the entire powertrain is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The total system output is 321 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque and returns 26 miles in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for a 27-mpg combined rating.
The model comes standard with the Technology Package, while the MDX Sport Hybrid with Advance Package starts from $58,975. Both grades have exclusive interior trim, stainless steel sport pedals and feature wood interior accents. The Technology Package model includes versatile seating for seven passengers, while the Advance Package features a six-passenger interior with second-row captain’s chairs and large second-row center console in place of a three-person bench seat.

Top end super-car hybrid for entry level X5. Not bad in my opinion. Although there may be some stigma that its just a MDX. Maybe Acura should have created a whole new model for this and charge 80K top end.
