The Mercedes-AMG GT is about to get a whole lot hotter, with the German automaker rumored to have a hardcore Black Series version in the works.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a Black Series model emerge from the AMG skunkworks, but the brand has promised the moniker will return. Last year, AMG boss Tobias Moers confirmed the company would revive the Black Series badge with a more aggressive version of the AMG GT and now YouTube user “Supercarsfromeu” has caught it testing at the Nurburgring. It might be hard to see with all the camouflage in the way and how quickly the prototype is making its rounds, but it definitely has a wider body than even the track-focused AMG GT R.

In addition to a wider track, the prototype is also sporting an even more aggressive front bumper with larger air intake openings and there appear to be canards on the corners for even more downforce. The rear has a fancy center exit exhaust similar to the AMG GT R’s and a large diffuser.

Currently, the AMG GT R sits at the top of the model range with 577 horsepower, so it’s likely the Black Series will push that figure to over 600 – especially considering the Mercedes-AMG E63 S has 603 hp. The bad news? We probably won’t see an unveiling for quite a bit, but the wait will be worth it to once again see an extra hardcore Black Series model in AMG’s lineup.
