Nissan has decided to cease production of vehicles in Japan while it investigates what went wrong with its vehicle inspection process.

Earlier this month, Nissan announced it was recalling 1.2-million vehicles in Japan because they weren’t inspected by authorized technicians before leaving the factory. That figure covers every Nissan vehicle sold in the country since 2014.

Now, vehicle production has been suspended at all of the company’s plants in Japan for at least two weeks, Autocar reports.

The automaker has shut down production so it can adjust its final vehicle inspection lines so they match the configuration sent to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation (MLIT). Nissan will also separate the final inspection process from other parts of vehicle production.

The issue only affects production of cars in Japan and for vehicles sold in the Japanese market.
