2018 Jeep Compass Recalled to Address Potential Airbag Issue

Approximately 8,000 Jeep Compass crossovers in North America are being recalled.

The recall comes after a supplier advised Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) that during the airbag module assembly process, loose fasteners may have inadvertently fallen undetected into a small number of modules. Those airbags then entered the supply chain and some where installed in the 2018 Jeep Compass during production. If the affected vehicles are involved in a crash, those loose fasteners are a potential hazard.

The affected airbag is the passenger-side airbag, and the number of affected vehicles is believed to be less than one percent of the total number of vehicles recalled. Of the approximately 8,000 units in North America, about 1,000 units are in Canada and Mexico.

The American automaker is not aware of any injuries, accidents, warranty claims, or complaints related to the issue. Affected customers will receive a recall notice next month.
