GM Issues Massive Recall for Over 1M Trucks and SUVs
General Motors has issued a massive recall for over 1.2 million Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles in the United States.
The recall covers certain examples of 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, along with Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The Silverado is the most widely affected model, with over 450,000 examples included in the recall.
Affected vehicles may experience a temporary loss of power steering before the system abruptly returns, usually during low-speed turns, GM says. Sudden loss of power steering can reduce one’s ability to control the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. GM is aware of 30 accidents and 2 injuries related to the problem.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by the automaker and instructed to make an appointment with their local dealership. Dealers will update the system software free of charge, which should remedy the issue. GM has not yet set a date for when the recall will begin.
