GMC Sierra Diesel's Power and Fuel Economy Figures Leaked
The GMC Sierra’s 3.0-liter Duramax Diesel engine will produce 282 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque for 2019, TFL Truck reports.
The publication received images of the figures from a Candian dealer site. The images also reveal that the Duramax diesel will return the equivalent of 28 mpg, though Canadians don’t use EPA numbers, so the figure is not necessarily accurate for American buyers.
Since the Sierra and the Silverado will be sharing the engine, we can safely assume that the Silverado’s figures will be similar.
That puts both trucks ahead of the Ford PowerStroke’s 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque and FCA’s EcoDiesel’s 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque (in its last available form).

The document also shows that the diesel Sierra will be capable of towing 7,800 lbs. The Duramax will appear as an option on the SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims.
