Well, it’s official, the Audi R8 is growing a mustache. A new teaser image from Audi Sport reveals that the facelift R8’s new front fascia will, in fact, mirror the GT3 car’s new front end.

With a new set of inlets at the front of the hood, a slightly reworked grille, and the possible omission of a line of light at the bottom of the DRLs, the new R8 looks sharper (and hirsute to boot).

Previous spy images—and the positioning of camouflage—suggest that the rear bumper and side skirts will also be reworked for the facelift. Given the positioning of the new bodywork, it’s not inconceivable that the new R8 will slip through the air more efficiently.

With the Huracan Performante, Lamborghini introduced a raft of changes to the cars’ shared V10. Optimizations at the intake and exhaust meant that the Lambo’s engine can churn out 630 hp. While we’re not suggesting that Audi will give the updated R8 that much power, it does give them ample opportunity to turn up the wick a little bit.
