Lucid's Entry-Level Trims Of the Air EV Sedan Have Been Unveiled

The Lucid Air Pure, and Lucid Air Touring are the newest, and cheapest additions to the lineup.

The Lucid Air’s bottom two trims are now available for purchase. The Pure and Touring models slot in the lineup beneath the Dream Edition, Grand Touring Performance, and Grand Touring trims the brand currently already has on sale.

The basic Pure model is the most distinctive of the two; the characteristic glass canopy roof found on the rest of the Lucid Air lineup isn’t here. Instead, the Pure has a body-colored, metal (aluminum) roof, a move that Lucid says simplifies the car, and reduces weight. Inside, the Lucid Air uses PurLuxe, Lucid-speak for a synthetic leather alternative.

The Touring model follows suit with the rest of the Lucid Air lineup. Glass canopy with a contrasting color is present on this model but as an option. Otherwise, the Touring gets the same metal roof as the Pure. Inside, the synthetic leather alternative is swapped out for real Nappa leather, and the interior is filled with real, open-pore wood.

Both the Touring and Pure are built with Lucid’s long range battery pack, a step down from the bigger extended range pack found in the Grand Touring and Grand Touring performance. The smaller battery pack offers 18 modules instead of 22. Still, the Lucid Air Pure is still good for a claimed 410 miles and a 0-60 run of 3.8 seconds in dual-motor trim. The Lucid Air Touring is reportedly the most efficient Lucid Air variant, cresting 4.62 miles per kilowatt-hour. Both vehicles aren’t as powerful, either. The Lucid Air Pure AWD only has 410 horsepower, and the Touring only 620, both comparatively smaller numbers to the whopping 1,050 found in the Grand Touring Performance model. Power specifications for the Lucid Air RWD haven’t been released yet.

The single-motor variant of the Lucid Air won’t go on sale until early 2023. The Lucid Air Touring, and Lucid Air Pure AWD models will be available in November and December of this year, respectively.
