The Ferrari 620 GT has finally leaked. After being teased so much by Ferrari, we finally get to see the new Italian supercar. This photo was taken by someone backstage at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, where the new Ferrari is sitting in hiding until its official Motor Show debut on March, 6.

The 620 GT is touted as being the most powerful Ferrari ever, and is supposed to get a 6.3-liter V12 engine with an output somewhere in the area of 740 hp, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The newest Ferrari has some seriously aggressive styling, clearly taking cues from the FF, and 458 Italia, with what looks to us like a little bit of a Fisker Karma mixed in.

Let us know what you think of the newest Ferrari in the comments section below.

Disney-Exotic-Driving-Experience-corner.jpg

The latest attraction at Walt Disney World isn’t based on a cartoon character, nor is it made of animatronics. It will, however, bring out the kid in you – in an adult sort of way. And the best part? It’s shiny, Italian and can go 200 mph.

OK, so you don’t actually go 200 mph, but piloting an exotic sports car on a race track will easily have you testing the car’s capabilities – not to mention your own.

Designed as the ultimate attraction for adults at Disney, the Exotic Driving Experience can get you behind the wheel of a pricey German or Italian sports car starting at as little as just $199. The “ride” is an addition to the long-standing Richard Petty Driving Experience, and is held at the Walt Disney World Speedway – though only makes partial use of the banked tri-oval. Using one of those banked bends, the rest of the course makes use of a large-scale, though rather technical, slalom running through the track’s infield.

Marco Mattiacci, CEO of Ferrari North America, has officially been given the 2012 Automotive Executive of the Year award and is the first Italian executive to receive the award.

“This year, the nominating committee chose to recognize Marco Mattiacci as an emerging leader whose accomplishments are certainly impressive and worthy of recognition,” said Robert Djurovic, executive director of the Automotive Executive of the Year Award program.

The accomplishments Djurovic described included increasing sales in North, Central, and South America 20 percent since his appointment in January 2010.

Mattiacci is the first Italian executive to receive the award. “After more than 55 years in North America, Ferrari’s largest market, we continue to showcase the company and its innovation, the growth of our product offerings, and consistently place a priority on the relationship with our clientele and enthusiasts,” he said.

It’s been a long time since Ferrari failed to evoke an enthusiastic response, though that has happened, think back to the 1980 Mondial 8. This is certainly a good time to get excited about new models coming off the line.

The 620 GT, successor to the 599 GTB Fiorano, is set to debut at next month’s Geneva Auto Show and will probably blow the doors off the competition. Hopefully Mattiacci has more like this on tap for the future.

That said, we were a little surprised the nod didn’t go to Sergio Marchionne, Fiat-Chrysler CEO, who achieved something many thought impossible: returing Chrysler to profitability. To be fair, there are still plenty of pitfalls in his way. Maybe next year?

For now we’re keeping a close eye on the iconic prancing horse badge, excited to know whats next.

A Ferrari FF caught fire near the Shanghai World Expo Avenue in China this past weekend.

According to China’s WZRB, eyewitnesses saw the FF cruising along until it started to smoke and eventually caught fire. The driver was notified of the hazard and turned off the road, gathering his things from the car before calling the fire department.

“They called the police, but the fire spread very rapidly, and when firefighters arrived, the vehicle had been surrounded by fire and was almost totally destroyed,” a witness told WZRB.

Worth about 5.3 million Chinese Yuan, or $840,000 USD, this is not the first FF to set itself on fire. Another FF suffered a similar fate last June, likely caused by defective heat reflectors surrounding the FF’s exhaust. Judging from the pictures from the latest incident, the same defect may be to blame.

At this summer’s Silverstone Classic, Ferrari F40 enthusiasts hope to set a world record while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the exotic.

The Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain is organizing the largest collection of F40s ever seen at the world’s biggest classic racing festival. “Our original aim was to get at least 25 of these Ferraris together and, as I have contacted owners, I have been gratified that so many want to be part of the celebration – so much so that we now have more than 50 F40s registered for the event with more still to come!” reported Nigel Chiltern-Hunt, the club’s co-ordinator for this anniversary gathering and an F40 owner himself. “A parade of those F40s present is planned for the Sunday and it undoubtedly will be the largest gathering of F40s ever seen anywhere in the world and will certainly beat the club’s own previous record of 40 F40s (pictured above) seen at the Silverstone Classic in 2007.”

The Ferrari F40 was first introduced in 1987 to celebrate the Italian automaker’s 40th anniversary. It features a twin-turbo V8 engine with 478-hp and was the world’s first 200-mph production road car. The supercar was sold at around $475,000 and only 1,315 F40s were ever produced. Silverstone Classic should be housing no less than 50 at this year’s show in July.

“Silverstone is the perfect place for Ferrari to be celebrating this important milestone in the incredible F40’s history,” said Nick Wigley, Event Organiser. “It was, of course, at Silverstone in 1951 that Ferrari achieved its first grand prix win and, since then, the circuit has witnessed countless more Ferrari victories, most recently when Fernando Alonso won last year’s British Grand Prix. With such a rich sporting history, it’s no surprise that so many fabulous Ferraris star in many of the major races staged at the Silverstone Classic. Now the promise of a record number of Ferrari F40s lining up on the infield is another major attraction. It’s a truly mouth-watering prospect that no supercar enthusiast will want to miss.”

The successor of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is now rumored to make its official debut on February 22nd, 2012 – ahead of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It will supposedly follow a dealer and client presentation that is happening the day before.

With the new rumor comes as a new spy photo has hit the net. Allegedly of the rear end of the new 620 GT,  it appears to be a prototype, rather than a production model.

When it does arrive, the 620 GT will be powered by a 6.3L V12 with 700-hp with a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

The new supposed reveal date is just a few days away, so we’ll just hang tight to see what surfaces. Until then, see AutoGuide’s complete 2012 Geneva Motor Show preview here.

The first-ever Ferrari winter driving school in America got off to a rough start after the weather failed to cooperate. Warm temperatures across the continent (global warming?), and Aspen in particular, have made it impossible to maintain an ice and snow course on which the Italian exotics were to drive.

Ferrari originally planned to have six consecutive weekends of winter driving schools beginning in January, but that plan was thrown out the window once warmer weather conditions prevailed. This past Friday, the Italian automaker offered an alternative program that covers 350 miles of driving in the areas around Aspen, giving students the experience of driving through mountain passes and winding roads.

The winter driving school was originally announced back in October 2011 and was modeled after the “European Pilota On Ice” two-day program. That program is held in the Dolomite mountains in Italy three times a year and has been ongoing since 2009. The program at Aspen cost $11,300 per person, and was also a two-day program that featured a lodge with classrooms, hospitality and catering, two nights stay at the Little Nell Hotel, instructional training, and plenty of Ferrari goodies.

The original program was to be done on a mile-long course made of snow and ice on private land 15 to 20 minutes outside of Aspen. But now, approximately 40 drivers are participating in the revised program due to the lack of snow and ice.

Ferrari hasn’t announced how many people were refunded compared to the number of participants opting for the other program, but back in mid-January the winter driving school program had sold out of each of its sessions. By our calculations, approximately 60 to 72 drivers could fill up the six sessions, so less than half of the participants asked for their money back rather than opting for the other program.

Autoweek-Record-setting-Ferrari-hydroplane-heads-for-RM’s-Monaco-auction-.jpg

Almost sixty years ago, wealthy boat-racing privateer Achille Castoldi created the Arno XI hydroplane racing boat powered by a Ferrari engine.

The engine is a 4.5 liter 12-cylinder Ferrari engine similar to that found in the Type 375 grand prix car that was driven to victory by Jose Froilan Gonzalez at the 1951 Silverstone GP. Modified for record breaking marine duty, the engine ran on methanol to allow higher compression ratios for the additional twin-superchargers to deliver more than 500-hp.

In 1953, the Arno XI piloted by Castoldi averaged speeds exceeding 150 mph. Castoldi followed up to break the “24 nautical miles” record in the 800 kg category when the ARNO XI averaged 102.13 mph. As the Italian Powerboat Federation later changed speedboating categories, this record remains unbroken. Apparently, Ferrari is familiar with winning on land and at sea.

Now this beautiful and historic hydroplane can be yours. The RM Auction will put the Arno XI on the block during RM’s Monaco sale on May 11th and 12th. According to RM, the Arno XI is complete with “an extensive history file” that contains period photos, as well as hand written notes from Ferrari engineer Gioacchino Colombo. According to experts, the boat is expected to be valued between $1.3 million to $1.9 million.

Ferrari had a good year in 2011, breaking the $2 billion Euro revenue mark for the first time in the company’s history.

A total 7,195 cars were delivered in 2011, a 9.5 percent increase from 2010 when only 6,573 cars were delivered to customers. Ferrari’s largest market continues to be the U.S., which accounted for 1,958 exotics in 2011. The greater China area managed to buy 777 cars, 500 of which went to China itself. The European market saw a good increase as well with Britain purchasing 574 Ferraris and Germany taking 705 cars.

“We can only be satisfied with these results,” said Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo. “They were achieved against an economic backdrop that remains challenging, particularly in Europe. They are the fruit of heavy investment and a culture of innovation that covers all areas of the business.”

Ferrari seems optimistic going into the future, with the announcement of a mystery V12 powered car to bow at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show. For 2011 the company spent $279 million Euros on research and development.

Even the Ferrari museum located in Maranello, Italy registered a record number of visitors in 2011: over 240,000, with 60 percent visiting from abroad.

Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa recently gave some incredible insight into the future of the Italian sports car maker. The 65 year-old touched on a few rumors, including that of an entry-level Ferrari.

“You don’t want to understand, do you? Believe me, there is no such Ferrari. We have no intention of increasing our production volume beyond what it takes to satisfy the growing demand of new markets like China and Russia,” Felisa said of a $175,000 Ferrari that some rumored to be a reborn Dino. So it seems we can cross that one off the list one last time, but it appears that Ferrari’s direction will be towards shaving weight from its cars, improving aerodynamic efficiency, and looking for a downsized powerplant for their next entry-level road car.

Currently, Ferrari is putting its finishing touches on the new 599 and is expected to have a V12 powerplant with 700-hp. That same engine is also believed to be in the replacement for the Enzo, which may be known as the F70 come this fall when it finally makes a debut. In the F70 however, the 7.3L V12 could have upwards of 800-hp and the possibility of a KERS package with a 120-hp electric motor. Over 900-hp combined could be interesting, but the idea of a zero-emissions Ferrari is even more intriguing.

Additional details on the F70 include that its weight could come close to the track-only FXX at around 2,550 lbs. Some may even expect it to be faster than the 1001-hp Bugatti Veyron.

There is also a report that a lightweight Ferrari 458 Challenge is due to hit showrooms in mid-2012. The Challenge is expected to be 150 lbs lighter with an increase of 30-hp to an even 600-hp figure.

And lastly, Felisa confirmed that Ferrari has no aspirations to do a four-door sport sedan, or a crossover. They’re leaving that up to Maserati.

The Ferrari California will be coming to the 2012 Geneva Auto Show with some new upgrades and a new sports handling package known as “Handling Speciale.”

Ferrari has managed to shave 66lbs off of its newest generation of the California by using advanced aluminum construction techniques, which according to the company, maintains all of the structural rigidity and performance as the old way of doing things.

The refresh will also see the California get new exhaust manifolds and engine mapping, giving the GDI V8 which delivers 490 hp with maximum torque of 505 Nm(372 lb. ft) at 5,000 rpm 30 added horses. This more power, less weight design will propel the California from 0-62 MPH in a cool 3. 8 seconds.

While the added power will come standard in all California’s, Ferrari is also offering a “Handling Speciale” package for the consumer who wants their supercar tailored for the track. The package includes magnetorheological dampers with an even faster ECU which constantly varies the shock absorber settings to fit the needs of the driver. Stiffer springs will accompany the new dampers to deliver a more responsive handling feel, while a new steering box provides a 10 per cent quicker steering ratio.

The new technical features will be accompanied by new paint options on the car, with two-tone finishes, three-layer paint technology and modern revivals of classic color schemes all available to make it easier to customize the California.

The availability of the vehicle will depend on where you are the world, with only sales in Europe confirmed right now.

Many enthusiasts agree that of all Ferraris, the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO road racer eclipses the rest. With less than 40 examples ever made, classic car collectors agree: this ranks among the most desirable.

Last week, Top Gear revealed that a private treaty sale happened for Ferrari 250 GTO serial number 5095. It sold for £20.2 million, or $31.8 million U.S., the transaction made this GTO the most expensive Ferrari in the world. Unofficially, the 250 GTO is also the world’s second most valuable, only bested by the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic sold in 2010. Few elite automobile sales are publicly disclosed and prices are almost always protected, though it was estimated to cost between $30 and $40 million.

While the price of this particular Ferrari 250 GTO had been revealed and confirmed by the broker involved, the identities of the buyer and seller remain anonymous. According to speculation, the car is believed to belong to British businessman Jon Hunt, who purchased the Ferrari back in 2008 for the equivalent of almost $25 million..

Whoever the new owner may be, we can only hope this person would allow us to experience his/her GTO at the next Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance or Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Driving down the boulevard in their Italian supercars, wealthy but genuine car enthusiasts face the difficult challenge of separating themselves from the typical playboys in fast cars. To solve this first world problem, HRE performance wheels proposed that there is no better way to add a touch of class to an exotic than by installing performance wheels with vintage flair.

Introducing the new Vintage Series, HRE wheels recreated three iconic designs from the brand’s 34-year history, each of which range from 18- to 20-inches, and are completely re-engineered as 3-piece forged wheels from quality aerospace-grade forged alloy. What’s more, each wheel is hand-finished in order to meet customer’s specifications for their modern exotic.

HRE provided a press gallery to showcase its new wheels installed upon the successors of the same automobiles that once wore the originals. The German racing car roots of the “501″ wheels are instantly recognizable, as its mesh lace design suits the latest viper green Porsche 991 ducktail nicely.  The five-porthole “454″ is a modern take on the wheels from the sensational Lamborghini Diablo and are just as striking to look at when fitted to the new Aventador. Finally, the pentagram design “505″ is a proper ode to the Ferrari F40, although pairing the set of wheels to a Ferrari 458 Spider is slightly clashing.

HRE Wheels President Alan Peltier said, “The process of recreating vintage designs that captured the style and essence of the originals was very exciting and challenging for all of us at HRE. These designs take us all back to the ’70′s and ’80′s when we were kids falling in love with exotics for the first time and truly becoming car lovers. Capturing all the character and magic of these designs, while ensuring they fit modern super cars and met our current engineering standards, made the project tougher than simply creating replicas of the original cast wheels. We found inspiration in those original designs but created wheels that reflect the HRE of today; wheels that are truly inspired.”

Wealthy automotive connoisseurs, rejoice!

Ferrari‘s F620, which will succeed the 599 GTB Fiorano, is set to debut March 6 at the press preview for the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.

As we reported previously, the car will have the same 6.2-liter V12 engine as the recent Ferrari FF, though it will produce 700 horsepower, significantly more than the four-seat FF.

German AutoBild released an artist rendering of what they think the car will look like. It seems they are heavily speculating that the F620 will take styling cues from the FF, featuring the same smiling grille and low, sweeping nose.

We’ll be in Geneva snapping photos and racing to post them, but for now you can look at our spy photos and imagine Ferrari’s next grand tourer for yourself.

About two months ago we reported a collection of luxurious and exotic machines that were involved in a bizarre accident in Japan that claimed at least eight Ferraris, three Mercedes-Benzes, a Lamborghini, a Nissan Skyline and a Toyota Prius.

The exotic car crash occurred on the Chugoku Expressway out in the Yamaguchi Prefecture and fortunately only ten people were hospitalized with just minor injuries.

Now a video of the aftermath from that accident has surfaced and it appears that Japan is now home to at least two parking lots full of fine machines just sitting and rotting. This accident is now being dubbed “the world’s most expensive car pileup” with an estimated combined cost of $4-million in damage.

Take a closer look at the Italian carnage after the break.

The Ferrari FF is gorgeous anywhere, but putting letting it loose in the middle of a snow-covered forest with Markku Alen behind the wheel? Roll the cameras, because something amazing is about to happen.

In possibly one of the most scenic backdrops you could capture on film, Ferrari put former World Rally Champion Markku Alen into a Ferrari FF to put their innovative 4RM four-wheel drive system to the test. The Finnish ice track specialist and winner of the 1978 FIA Cup for Drivers came away impressed with not only the 4RM system, but Ferrari’s latest 12-cylinder powerplant.

The 8.7-mile forested track had temperatures ranging from -22 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit and was packed with steep inclines and challenging corners. Clearly, this course gave Alen the opportunity to test the Ferrari FF’s capability to extremes, especially the car’s traction on surfaces with very little grip.

Watch the breathtaking video after the break.

Two very special Jeeps were recently handed over to F1 pilots Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso to help the two pro drivers get around all the snow falling in Maranello these days. The pair of Scuderia Ferrari drivers each received a Ferrari-styled Grand Cherokee SRT8, the quickest and most powerful Jeep ever built.

Both vehicles feature a special trim with exclusive styling details and the bright, Rossa Corsa shade from Italian exotic automaker, Ferrari. Now that Chrysler-Fiat is all one happy family, it makes sense for the Chrysler Group to leverage the most valuable asset in its alliance, the Ferrari brand.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 packs a 6.4L Hemi V8 with 465-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque and has a 0-60 mph time of just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 160-mph. The pair of personalized Grand Cherokees are the first of the new SRT8 high performance version to hit European shores. It will go on sale this summer in Europe.

“We are excited and proud to be able to hand over the exclusively personalised ‘Ferrari-style’ versions of the most powerful and fastest Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 of all time to two of the most talented drivers in the world,” said Beth Peretta. “We are sure Fernando and Felipe will feel perfectly at home at the wheel of these cars that take styling cues from Ferrari with Rosso Corsa bodywork and that represent the pinnacle in terms of performance for the Jeep brand. Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 offers all who love driving, a unique combination of the amazing capacity of the Jeep on road and track, with the pinnacle of personalised style and technology.”

Anticipation for the new Ferrari F620, successor to the 599, is mounting again thanks to a new YouTube video offering an early look at the veiled supercar.

If you haven’t been keeping up to speed, no pun intended, with the numbers surrounding this Italian road demon, revel in this: it’s powered by the FF’s 6.3-liter V12, pumping out more than 700 ponies. Though we can’t comment on exactly what the F620 is going to look like, it’s evident that the basic body characteristics will be the same as the 599 it will replace.

Even draped in black cloth meant to mask specific traits, it resembles a sprinter about to launch on a track. To watch some footage of the F620 out cruising click here. The video isn’t particularly inspirational, but it’s better than still photos. You also get to hear a healthy dose of the exhaust note, which is a scintillating experience for any fanboy.

We’ll bring you the full details during our coverage of the 2012 Geneva Auto Show starting March 6. And check out our spy pics below.

We just can’t get enough of the Nissan Juke-R project, and probably won’t until we get our grubby little hands behind its steering wheel. But until then, we’ll just have to continue living vicariously through those fortunate enough to experience the monster first hand.

While it was in Dubai to pace the 24 Hour race, Nissan took its Juke-R out to the Dubai International Marina where a makeshift course was created and the funky Japanese crossover was pitted against a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and a Ferrari 458 Italia. You know, just some of Germany and Italy’s finest supercars.

Now it goes without saying that we’d expect the Juke-R to look mighty impressive in the video against the exotics since it was probably staged by Nissan. But there’s no denying just how remarkable its performance looks and how undoubtedly fun it was for Lucas Ordonez, the first GT Academy winner, to pilot it. And obviously by watching the video, the drivers were putting on a show more than they were looking for a fast lap time.

We just hope a better resolution video surfaces soon.

Check out the video below.

It appears that people will be willing to turn any vehicle into a stretched limo these days. We already thought the Fiat 500 Limo was a little bit silly, but these stretched exotics really raise some eyebrows.

Carbonyte UK will be collaborating with Limo Broker out in the UK to create the world’s first, super-stretched Audi R8 V10. Limo Broker is already known for their stretched Ferrari 360 Modena limousine, that has produced its fair share of controversy on the Internet. We can’t even imagine what enthusiasts will think of the R8 V10 creation.

Limo Broker stated that work on the Audi R8 conversion has already started and they estimate that it’ll be completed by the summer of 2012. The limo will seat up to eight people in clearly race-inspired bucket seats and will still be powered by the stock 5.2L V10 engine with 528-hp.

Check out the videos from Limo Broker on their two stretched, exotic limos below.

Originally owned by Lee Iococca, this Ferrari F40 is heading to RM Auctions with less than 300-miles on the odometer and could fetch anywhere from $650,000 to $750,000.

The iconic Ferrari supercar was built for Iacocca while he was the chief executive at Chrysler. The F40 was created to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary and was originally limited to just 400 units but popular demand caused Ferrari to expand production to 1,315 cars – only 213 ever made it to America. This particular F40 was the 94th of the 213 US-specification cars, produced in October 1990.

The Ferrari F40 features a 2.9L mid-mounted V8 engine with 471-bhp and weighs in at just 2,425-lbs. Back in the late 1980s, the F40 was tested to do 0-60 mph in just 3.9-seconds.

Included with the vehicle will be all the original documents including a “Built Especially for Lee Iacocca” card.

Acura-NSX-Concept-02.JPG

Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Maseratis, they all have distinct exhaust notes that turn heads from Hoboken, New Jersey to Hollywood, California. They still ain’t got nothing on the rare and raspy resonation that marks an Acura NSX.

Where an ultra-expensive Italian car says status, the NSX spits true tuner taste— especially because they aren’t in production. That’s why our ears perk up whenever news surfaces about the highly anticipated next generation of the old legend.

The latest? On Monday, Acura announced at the North American International Auto Show that they plan to do the research, development and manufacturing for the new NSX at their Marysville, Ohio facility.

“Honda associates are up to the challenge of producing the new NSX for global customers with a high degree of craftsmanship,” said Hidenobu Iwata, head of Honda’s North American manufacturing operations and president of Honda of America Mfg., Inc. in a press release.  ”Honda associates in Ohio have been building high-quality Honda and Acura vehicles for nearly 30 years, so this news in many ways is a culmination of their determined efforts.”

This is big news, considering the previous NSX was made entirely in Japan and then exported.

Hiroshi Takemura, president of Honda R&D Americas agreed, saying that the company has a rich history of creating cars in the U.S. and that the decision to build the new NSX in Ohio demonstrates the maturity and ability of Acura’s American operation.

For the most part, Acura is keeping mum on tech specs, though we do know that the car will, again, feature a mid-mounted V6, lightweight chassis and Acura’s Super Handling All Wheel Drive system. We also know that the car will be available within three years time.

10. Porsche 918 Spyder: $845,000

The list of the Top 10 most expensive new cars is even more shocking that you might expect. Released by Forbes, you can forget the Ferrari 458 or the $300,000 Lamborghini Aventador because even at the low end of the scale these models start at right around the one million mark.

In 10th place, at $845,000 is Porsche’s upcoming flagship, the 918 Spyder. When it does arrive later this year, it will come powered by a high-revving V8 engine making more than 500 hp, mated to a plug-in hybrid system that adds over 218 hp. Porsche claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds, with an incredible 78 mpg rating.
