2013 Mitsubishi Cars
Mitsubishi Motors is part of a Japanese conglomerate, but the brand is best known for its lineup of cars like the Lancer compact sedan, Galant mid-size sedan, Outlander, Outlander Sport and Endeavor crossovers, the Eclipse coupe and convertible, and the Lancer Evolution sports car. Mitsubishi is set to offer the all-electric Mitsubishi i at the end of 2011, a first for the brand.
Mitsubishi got its start in North America by selling vehicles co-engineered with Chrysler, including the highly successful Galant sedan and Eclipse sports coupe, which were built in the United States. Management problems in Japan, a failed financing scheme in America and a lack of relevant product hampered the brand over the last decade, but vehicles like the Lancer Ralliart and Lancer Evolution have helped Mitsubishi keep a high profile in the public’s eye. The Mitsubishi i electric car should help position Mitsubishi as a leader in green technology, but the brand’s future in the United States is still in doubt by some observers.
