The last generation Volkswagen Scirocco coupe didn’t make its way across the ocean to the US, but thanks to hints from VW’s North American CEO, we now have hope that the newest generation model will be offered here in the States.

“That’s a piece of the lineup that I would dearly love to see here,” said CEO of VW Group of America, Jonathan Browning when asked about the newest version of the Scirocco.

The Scirocco coupe was last sold here in 1988, and was only produced until 1992 when it was replaced by the Volkswagen Corrado. When the car was reintroduced in 2008, there was to much risk for Volkswagen to export them to the States thanks to the recession, and the fact that the Scirocco would likely steal sales away from the GTI.

A facelifted Scirocco coupe is expected sometime in 2013, and hopefully when the car is revealed we will find out more about VW’s sales plan.

When speaking with Automotive News, Browning also revealed that there is a chance the diesel powered Volkswagen Alltrack might make its way to North America as well, as it was displayed at the 2012 New York Auto Show strictly to gauge customer reaction in America.

If the Volkswagen Scirocco comes to the United States, I am so going to get one.

If they are so afraid it will steal the sales of the GTI so much then export this car and phase out the GTU

I presently have mazdas. Speed3, speed6, rx8 r3, . I would love to see this car in the US. I would have to see under the car to see how tough it is built i.e. the Speed3,6 but this would be a better consideration than the WRX for my next track car…

So what if it hurts the GTi Sales.  The Scirocco is a lot better looking than the “BOXY” GTi.  Why not give people the choice.  Personally, I would never buy a Golf or Rabitt or GTi.  They all look the same and have changed very little over the years.  The sporty Scriocco is much better looking and has the same powertrain as the GTi.  Also, why don’t we have more Diesel cars here in the US?  Are the Saudi Sheeks heads paying the Automakers off not to introduce more fuel efficient and longer lasting vehicles?  Diesel gets twice the gas mileage of gas powered cars which in some cases rivals much higher priced and Un-Fun to drive Hybrids.  In Europe Diesel is 2 Dollars per Gallon cheaper than Gasoline so why is Diesel more expensive in the US??  It’s all a big plot to keep the US public in the dark about the power and fuel savings of Diesel.  Big Gas Companies have us on a leash and we Amerikans gladly accept our slave colars.

VW should bring the Polo Stateside as well-including the Polo GTI

The Scirocco would be a better change of pace from all the four door sedans.
