2014 Porsche Macan Spotted Uncovered in Spy Photos

Porsche sells a ton of Cayenne SUVs which is why the brand is expanding its SUV offerings with the new Macan, a small crossover which our spy photographers caught fully uncovered.

This is the first time that the Macan has been seen sporting any color besides black, a sign that the vehicle has moved from the development phase into pre-production models. That makes sense considering the Macan will make its official debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The Macan is based on the Audi Q5, though Porsche says that it is an all-new vehicle despite the shared platform. Out back the photos show off the quad exhaust of the Macan Turbo model, while the front end seems unchanged from previous photos we have seen of the car.

Engine options are likely to be borrowed from the Audi Q5. A hybrid drivetrain with a VW-sourced 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine being mated to a 44 hp electric motor is a possibility, while a non-hybrid 4-cylinder is also said to be slated for the Macan, though not until the middle of its life cycle. At the top of the heap, a 3.0-liter V6 with twin turbochargers making 370 hp and around 400 lb-ft of torque will likely sit under the hood.
