The new record for 2013 also means that the Japanese automaker saw its fifth straight year of sales records and the sixth consecutive year of sales increases.

Subaru has seen the biggest growth in sales from its XV Crosstrek model, which improved from 1,927 units year-to-date in October 2012 to 42,905 units year-to-date in October 2013. The BRZ sports car also remains a strong seller for the brand, with 7,126 units sold so far this year. Then again, production on the BRZ was limited last year.
