Can commercial vans EVER be cool? Well, the folks at Mercedes-Benz seem to think they can. They’re showing off four specially modified haulers at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

These midsize vans give us a first glimpse of the company’s new commercial entry that will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada next fall. This vehicle should tussle with products like the Nissan NV200, Ford Transit Connect and Ram ProMaster City.

Sold as the Metris in North America; it will retain the Vito name in other global markets. For customers on this side of the Atlantic, production versions of cargo and passenger models will be shown later in 2015, so stay tuned. But the company was keen to reveal some hopped up versions at SEMA to help generate interest in this new model.

RENNtech: Party/DJ Van

This Metris is custom designed for DJs, offering them a mobile platform to ply their musical trade. Among other things it features a clam-shell roof that serves as a backdrop. How does that sound? It rides on giant wheels and features aftermarket lighting.

HQ Custom Design: Luxury Van

This van is designed to be the ultimate executive shuttle; it’s solely focused on luxury. It treats passengers to the finest audio/visual equipment on the market today along with premium materials and impeccable craftsmanship. Judging by the photo above it looks like a high-riding Maybach.

RADO: Fire Chief Concept Truck

The first two Metris offerings presented here are a little frivolous, but this one has real value. The Fire Chief Concept Truck is designed to serve as a mobile command unit for various government agencies. This particular example is a rolling communications center that appears ready for any sort of natural disaster or potential attack.

Garmin: Mobile Golf Pro Shop

Finally, any tee-time enthusiast should love this modified van. It’s loaded with a golf simulator and other high-tech goodies including an infotainment system designed for both personal and merchandizing usage. It can even help players improve their game thanks to its mobile performance center. Fore!
