Looking for a drop-top car? You have quite a few options on the market today. But what if you want a flagship-caliber machine? Your choices a dramatically more limited, though the folks Mercedes-Benz are about to give you another option.

A convertible version of the S-Class is in the works. This cabriolet expected to be nearly identical to the new coupe model of this high-end car. It will feature a gigantic soft top that supposedly retracts in just seven seconds, even while driving.

This vehicle should feature an active suspension system and other high-end goodies. As for powertrains, expect them to be the same as in other S-Class models. This includes a 4.7-liter bi-turbo V8 engine in the S550 variant as well as a 12-cylinder monster under the S600’s hood. It’s not known if the company will offer an AMG model or not.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is expected to formally bow at the Frankfurt Motor Show this autumn.
