Cadillac Introducing CarPlay, Android Auto for 2016

In-vehicle smartphone connectivity is the trendiest thing in the car business since the automatic transmission was invented and manufacturers are practically required to support Google and Apple technologies if they want to remain competitive with rivals. And that’s exactly what Caddy is doing, but in addition to this the company’s CUE system is also gaining new features, faster performance and more streamlined operation.

CarPlay is coming to Cadillacs that are equipped with an eight-inch multitouch screen with the exception of their SRX crossover that is being totally redesigned for 2016 and receive the enhancement. The new model is expected to be introduced early next year. Android Auto will follow Apple’s connectivity technology at a later date.

A more powerful computer processor is being added to 2016 Cadillac models to improve the performance of the company’s CUE infotainment system. It should provide faster startup times, better voice recognition and enhanced media playback, among other improvements. Additionally, the navigation system’s control structure has been simplified to make it easier to use.
