Both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord will be adopting small displacement turbocharged engines in the near future.

Following in the footsteps of nearly every other midsize sedan, both Toyota and Honda will give their bread-and-butter cars turbocharged engines.

For the Camry, it will be the same 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that is used in the Lexus NX and IS. In the NX, where the engine is transverse, the motor makes 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, numbers that won’t likely change too much when it gets to the Camry. This engine is expected to replace the Camry’s current V6, which makes 268 hp.

At Honda, the new 1.5-liter turbo engine being installed in the Civic will also makes its way to the Accord. Eventually, this engine will power the CR-V as well. In the Accord, the turbo engine might serve as the base engine, under a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four cylinder.
