The MINI Countryman John Cooper Works variant has begun testing on the Nurburgring.

Spy photographers caught the MINI Countryman John Cooper Works making its rounds at the world-famous track, sporting the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the Cooper JCW hatchback and convertible models. Since it shares the powerplant as other models, the MINI Countryman JCW should have 228 horsepower, providing a high-performance variant in the Countryman’s lineup.

Although it is heavily camouflaged, the MINI Countryman JCW does receive a more aggressive front spoiler with larger air intakes. You can also spot the signature red JCW brake calipers and larger wheels on all four corners. To finish off the package, there are new lower side skirts and you can expect to hear a sportier exhaust note coming from the Countryman JCW.
