The roadmap for Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury sub-brand, has leaked.

It’s already common knowledge that the Genesis G90 and G80 models are on the horizon, as well as an entry-level or near-luxury G70 compact sedan. In addition, the Korean automaker is planning a mid-luxury SUV model sometime after 2017 while a near-luxury SUV and near-luxury sport coupe will join the lineup by 2020.

The Genesis G90 will replace the current Hyundai Equus while the G80 replaces the Genesis sedan. Expect the Genesis G70 to draw inspiration from the New York Concept that debuted earlier this year at the 2016 New York Auto Show.

Expect the mid-luxury SUV to be similar to the Hyundai Santa Fe in terms of size and that should arrive around 2018. The near-luxury SUV will likely relate to the Hyundai Tucson as a more compact offering. Given the popularity of crossovers and SUVs, the sport coupe will probably be the last vehicle to arrive for Genesis, landing it at or around 2020.

The big question remains whether the current Hyundai Genesis coupe will live on until the new sport coupe model arrives. Hyundai USA’s website doesn’t show a 2017 model year Genesis coupe and its Korean website no longer lists the model at all. The company has yet to confirm whether the Genesis coupe has been axed for the time being.

2020 is a long time to wait for a new Genesis Coupe, but I think if Hyundai added a 7+ inch screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a rearview camera standard then added that new ~365hp 3.3L Turbo engine for 2018 or so, they'd probably sell a few more of the current Coupes while getting the engine ready to be a refined, quality powerplant for when it's put in the new 2020 Coupe.
