Boasting a trio of turbocharged engine options, the 2018 GMC Terrain was introduced at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
Coming standard on the new SUV is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine providing 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, while a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo-four mill taken from the Buick Envision is also available with 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both engines feature direct injection and idle-stop technology and are paired to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Joining those two gasoline engines is a 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 136 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. It also has idle-stop technology but comes with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Look for the 2018 GMC Terrain to come with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive as an option, with all-wheel drive boasting a fuel-saving mode that allows the system to disconnect until four-wheel traction is necessary. The new model is set to go on sale this summer.
