The most powerful Audi production vehicle yet will bow at this year’s LA Auto Show.

Limited to just 60 units for the U.S., the Audi R8 Competition is as close as it gets to the R8 LMS Ultra race car that competes successfully in various forms of motorsports around the world. Powering the R8 Competition is a 5.2-liter V10 with 570 hp paired to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and gets to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. With a top speed of 199 mph, it is the fastest R8 ever.

Giving it a more striking design on the outside, the R8 Competition features matte carbon fiber exterior elements such as a fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror housings, canards, side blades, front spoiler and rear diffuser. The carbon fiber bits also help provide greater downforce while the gloss-black wheels and red brake calipers provide a contrast to the carbon fiber.

Inside, the German automaker has given the limited production R8 more matte carbon fiber elements including the center console and illuminated R8 Competition door sill inlays.

Nice updated cosmetic looks but getting tired of hearing about this poor hanging fruit sitting on the vine.

This model is just for ego-hungry people. I really love the R8, but, the "fastest R8 ever"...yes...by 2-3 mph.
