A custom Hyundai Veloster Turbo will join the Korean automaker’s showcase at the 2015 SEMA Show next month.

Blood Type Racing Inc., a tuner based out of Chicago, will make a return to Hyundai’s booth this year in Las Vegas showing off a Veloster Turbo that has switched over to the dark side.

Starting with a Carbon Black paint job, the Veloster Turbo has been accented with a red racing stripe running from the front splitter up onto the hood. It has also received a carbon fiber wide body to give it a more aggressive stance while front-mounted aero canards, front splitter and a rear deck spoiler enhance aerodynamics. The Veloster Turbo will roll on custom SSR three-piece wheels finished with red accents, while red project “demon eye” headlights give it an evil appearance up front.

Starting with Hyundai’s 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder engine, the bottom end has received new cylinder sleeves, custom rods and pistons, all of which are there to protect the engine from a high-boost turbocharger from Garrett. Along with a retuned ECU, the Veloster Turbo now pumps out over 500 horsepower while the inside has been gutted for a full, race-spec treatment that includes a four-point roll cage, Sabelt bucket seats, harnesses and steering wheel.

“The focus of this build was to boost the performance capabilities of the Veloster R-Spec while creating one of the angriest-looking Hyundai vehicles to chew up the pavement,” said Sam Lee, Director of Marketing, Blood Type Racing, Inc. “The engine tune on this vehicle is pushing the small-displacement motor to the edge. With a specific output of 312 horsepower/liter, we’re pushing this small displacement motor close to Formula 1 levels of performance. We’ve developed a number of internal components to help manage the power demands of this new engine, and paired with our hunkered-down suspension and aggressive exterior visuals, this Veloster is guaranteed to turn heads on the SEMA show floor.”
