The 2019 Lexus ES sedan has been shown ahead of its official debut at Auto Chian 2018 in Beijing next week.

The new ES looks much like its Lexus stablemates with a familiar spindle grille up front, sharp LED headlight signatures and aggressive-looking, angular taillights. It appears a bit softer when viewed from the side, but the entire design is much more exciting to look at than the outgoing ES, if you ask us.

Toyota’s TNGA architecture will underpin the new ES, which is found in just about every new Toyota model – including the full-size Toyota Avalon. The platform should give the new ES improved ride quality over the outgoing model, along with additional interior space and better crash safety.

Lexus’ 3.5-liter V6 is expected to make its way into the new ES, while the automaker’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine may be found in the hybrid variant. The eight-speed automatic transmission found in the new Avalon may also make an appearance in the new ES.

Lexus has yet to show us the interior of the new ES, but we’re expecting a similar style and attention to detail as is seen in the new Lexus LS cabin. The improved Lexus infotainment system found in the LS, offered with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, may also make an appearance in the new ES.

The Lexus ES will make its official debut at Auto China 2018 next week. Stay tuned for full, official details on this new luxury sedan.
