Hyundai has teamed up with Xevo to develop in-vehicle payment services.

The two companies showcased the new technology at TU-Automotive Detroit, and Hyundai expects it will be able to offer customers the ability to find and pay for gas at participating Chevron- and Texaco-branded stations, order and pay for Applebee’s To Go, as well as find, reserve, and pay for parking with ParkWhiz.

The two companies are also developing the Hyundai Digital Wallet platform, which stores payment information and handles secure processing for a seamless checkout experience.

Hyundai isn’t the only recent automaker to work on in-car payment services. Recently, Chevy and Shell teamed up to make it easier to pay for gas from within the vehicle.

“We are always learning and exploring with Blue Link, having worked with technologies like Google Glass, Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, Wear OS and Apple Watch,” said Cason Grover, senior group manager, Vehicle Technology Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Usage-based insurance and in-vehicle payment can offer savings and convenience to our customers, and we look forward to offering these services.”
