Volkswagen is seeking to close the gap between launching products in Europe and the U.S. that left customers waiting an extra year to buy the seventh-generation Golf.

A year after it launched in Europe, Volkswagen is introducing the new 2015 Golf to America, with a base price of $18,815 including destination charges.

Customers should wait if they are about to buy a new diesel-powered Volkswagen sedan or coupe because a new turbo diesel will replace the current engine later this year.
