AutoAssure, LLC is a third-party extended warranty company that has been in business for five years. It services customers nationwide from its headquarters in Plano, Texas. Although the company started it off with a positive reputation, the quantity of positive customer reviews has decreased significantly in the last year.

Our team has researched the best extended auto warranty companies, and in this review, we’ll explain the rise and fall of AutoAssure. We analyze the quality of its extended car warranty protection plans and recommend top providers that might be better suited for your vehicle protection needs.

AutoAssure Review: 3.1 Stars

We don’t recommend getting an extended car warranty from AutoAssure. From misleading sales tactics to broker fees, we think the cons of a policy from AutoAssure outweigh the benefits—especially when you have the option to get the same coverage from Endurance, a company with a stronger reputation.

AutoAssure is a unique extended car warranty provider because it is a brokerage company that sells Endurance extended car warranties. AutoAssure used to work with United Car Care as well. However, United Car Care has since gone out of business. Today, if you want an Endurance warranty, you can choose to call Endurance or AutoAssure.

Endurance writes and sells extended protection plans, and AutoAssure brokers them. Let’s review the advantages and disadvantages of calling AutoAssure versus calling Endurance directly.

Pros

Cons

You’ll be assigned a broker who will manage your account, answer your coverage questions, and remain your point of contact throughout the lifetime of your policy.

AutoAssure has a spotted sales and customer service history.

Brokers can be more flexible about discounts on plans.

Brokers sometimes tack on fees for their services that you wouldn’t pay if you went directly to the provider.

Although AutoAssure provides extended car warranties from Endurance, the company has a reputation of its own when it comes to customer service.

AutoAssure Extended Car Warranty Coverage

AutoAssure offers four coverage plans with different terms for extended auto warranty coverage through Endurance.

AutoAssure Warranty Plan

Coverage

Platinum Exclusionary

Covers many parts and systems, including phone/bluetooth technology and internet access systems of your car

Gold Component

Covers most parts, including steering, brakes, suspension, airbags, emissions system, GPS, and DVD player technology

Powertrain Plus

Covers the powertrain plus the turbo/supercharger, fuel delivery, electrical, air conditioning, seals and gaskets, and transfer unit

Powertrain Basic

Covers the engine, transmission, cooling, and drive axle

Some perks to getting one of these service agreements from AutoAssure include:

  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • Rental car reimbursement
  • Trip interruption coverage

AutoAssure Cost

We got sample quotes from AutoAssure for a 2017 Ford Explorer with 45,000 miles registered in North Carolina. Here were the results for bumper-to-bumper and powertrain auto warranty coverage.

AutoAssure Plan Name

Length of Coverage

Monthly Payment

Down Payment

Platinum Exclusionary

7 years/100,000 miles

$159.17 for 24 months

$395.00

Powertrain Plus

5 years/100,000 miles

$128.46 for 24 months

$395.00

After expressing interest in the Platinum Exclusionary plan, our team member was then offered a second payment plan option of $106.11 for 36 months. While this is a lower monthly payment, it actually works out to be about the same price overall as the original offer with the extra year of payments. It’s nice that AutoAssure provided two choices, though.

With 24 or 36 monthly payments, you’ll soon be paid off for coverage with the remaining years in your plan covering you at no extra cost.

These prices are fairly high as far as extended car warranty payments go, especially when you include the down payment for activating your coverage. Fortunately, Endurance contracts come with a 30-day money-back guarantee if you cancel coverage within 30 days of purchase.

Quotes and Claims Processes

To get a quote for an extended car warranty from AutoAssure, you can call or get a quote online. The online form will actually direct you to call in to finish the process though, so skipping the quote tool all together will cut out an unnecessary step.

When we called AutoAssure for the quotes above, the entire process took less than 10 minutes. The customer service agents that we spoke to were not as knowledgeable about extended car warranties as Endurance representatives. Our observation is in alignment with AutoAssure’s current customer service ratings that have been in a steady decline over the past year.

When you need to file a claim for covered repairs with AutoAssure, you can call your broker, and they will handle all of the paperwork and coordinate your claim from start to finish. This person will be your point of contact until the claim is resolved to your satisfaction no matter which service plan you choose.

AutoAssure Ratings and Reviews

AutoAssure offers Endurance vehicle service contracts. But that is the only similarity between the two companies. The biggest difference between the two companies beyond price is customer service reputation. Let’s review some ratings for AutoAssure and Endurance:

AutoAssure’s poor reputation is partially a result of misleading sales tactics in Minnesota in 2018. The company was sending letters to potential customers falsely claiming that their car warranty was expiring soon and they needed to buy another warranty to avoid a lapse in coverage. AutoAssure put the sender address as “Vehicle Service Department,” which gave people the impression that it was coming from their vehicle manufacturer.

In each message, phrases like “time-sensitive” and “act immediately” were bolded and highlighted, giving the recipient a false sense of urgency. Further, the letter looked like an official document, not an advertisement. Senior citizens in particular felt targeted.

AutoAssure also conducted deceptive advertising calls, claiming on recorded lines that it covered “everything from the front of your [vehicle], all the way to the rear.” In reality, many of these parts are not covered under an extended car warranty and are only covered by car insurance.

This was not a victimless sales tactic. In one case, an elderly woman purchased two extended car warranties from AutoAssure for the same vehicle. Many customers were also driving with less coverage than they thought they were paying for.
