Debuting at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes S-Class Coupe Concept is expected to go on sale in Europe early next year.
Yet another year later, the German automaker plans on unveiling a convertible variant that will feature a fabric top and will be offered with the same twin-turbocharged V8 and V12 engines as the S-Class coupe.
Naturally, the convertible model will be based on the S-Class Coupe Concept and will be the first open-top S-Class model since the Cabriolet that sold from 1961 to 1971. Mercedes considered a CL convertible model in the past and it looks like it’ll leverage its next-generation S-Class coupe to make that a reality.
