It appears that the 2016 Toyota Prius is undergoing testing in the U.S.

PriusChat user Savior1974 spotted this heavily camouflaged prototype at a gas station in Baker, California and while there’s no confirmation that this is a fourth-generation Prius, its body lines, tail lights and front end does resemble the world’s best-selling hybrid. Current Prius owners will also recognize the slide-out trunk concealer in the rear of the car.

The 2016 Toyota Prius got delayed as Toyota wanted to work on fine tuning its design while making the hybrid more efficient. In addition, the Japanese automaker needed additional time to get the Prius to work well with the company’s New Global Architecture platform. Whether this is the 2016 Toyota Prius or just a mule for a future model remains to be unseen, but expect news on the new Prius to surface soon.
