The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is the fastest Ferrari to date and now you can get up close and personal with the Italian exotic on the web with the F12 configurator.

The website launches with a message from Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo introducing the new car. Once the configurator loads, you are free to customize the car with variables like exterior paint colors, wheels, brake caliper finishes and interior trims that will help make the Berlinetta your own.

For most people, the F12 is out-of our realistic price range for a car, but at least Ferrari provides us with a free way to drool over this fine looking automobile. Although, the website seems to hold so much information, it takes forever to load.

Buying cars is not like what it used to be. You no longer need to go into a showroom and sit with a Brylcreamed salesman and look over color palettes.

Nowadays, any self-respecting car company has a modern website with a configurater, so customers can sit at home and virtually see what their next car will look like.

Some car companies are now going a step further and have developed app’s that can be downloaded to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

Rolls Royce is certainly moving ahead with the times. It first introduced an app for their Ghost model, and now comes an app for the Phantom line-up. This app lets customers and dreamers configure any Phantom model in any way they would like. So not only can you choose your exterior color, you can trim the interior and all its details to your liking also.

If any one of the 44,000 color choices is not to your liking, you can create your own using a color matching function which will give you infinite possibilities. So if you want the exterior or interior to resemble your handbag or nail polish, you can do that.

So if you are looking to buy a new Rolls Royce, or just dreaming of one, you can go to the Apple App store and download this application to your device.

A group of Facebook users have decided to take advantage of Bugatti’s in depth Veyron configurator by holding a contest to see who can produce the ugliest Bugatti Veyron out there. Now for those that haven’t played around with the Veyron configurator – mostly because many of us never plan on owning one – there’s a lot of options and versatility in the app that Bugatti has developed for potential buyers. Nearly everything on the car can be configured in terms of color, which makes for some fantastic results even if you just randomly clicked blindly.

We of course had to join in on the fun. We don’t think we did too bad ourselves, though the competition is pretty heavy out there. But really, mixing and matching the most atrocious combination of colors imaginable makes any car, even a supercar like the Veyron, pretty grotesque.
