On October 31st, 2012, 50 Scion FR-S vehicles assembled a caravan to drive out to Las Vegas for the 2012 SEMA Show. The Japanese automaker was on hand to capture the action, releasing a short teaser video of its trip.

Despite being a diverse list this week, the three most popularly researched cars this week came from one manufacturer: Toyota.

In a sea of custom Scion FR-S’ and Subaru BRZs at the 2012 SEMA Show, it’s surprisingly hard to compile a list of the top 10 without some criteria. So to compile our list of favorites, we decided to look at all the 86s and judge based on cleanliness, originality, and functionality – and of course, how it looked on the show floor.

Almost a week since the Scion FR-S Tuner Challenge competitors were revealed, the Japanese automaker has picked a winner at the 2012 SEMA Show: Chris Basselgia. Basselgia, builder of the Minty FReSh Scion FR-S took home the top prize of $10,000 while John Toca’s FR-S came in second and Daniel Song’s FR-S GT came in third.

Each year, Scion hosts the Tuner Challenge pitting three of the nation’s top builders against one another to show off what its cars can do with some creativity and hard work. As the winner was announced at last year’s Tuner Challenge, Scion promised that it would deliver a trio of FR-S models for the 2012 SEMA Show.

It’s well documented just how great the Scion FR-S handles on the road and on the track, and those lucky enough to own one just know how fun it is to drive on a daily basis.

The Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are undoubtedly great sports cars, but not every owner has been able to enjoy them as much as they’d like. Many owners have taken to the Internet to express complaints regarding a check engine light, slip light, and idle issue on their new cars.

Scion’s latest ad for its FR-S sports coupe shows more than the car’s backside sliding out around corners, though that’s there too. It give an x-ray view of the boxer engine at work. 

Subaru knew that the BRZ would not sell as well as the Scion FR-S just based on price, but now it looks like the pricing of the FR-S is forcing some Subaru dealers to offer incentives. 

NASCAR driver, Joey Logano is used to his  Toyota Camry he drives in the Sprint and Nationwide series, but he was recently offered some lessons in drifting in the FR-S with Forumla Drift champ, Ken Gushi.

Scion recently released a video explaining one of the key components to its new FR-S rear-drive sport coupe: the torsen limited-slip differential.
