Lamborghini "Everyday Model" Still In Flux

For anyone who grew up with posters of the Countach or Diablo on their wall, the idea of an “everyday” Lamborghini is utterly laughable. By definition, a Lamborghini has always been a loud, crude, in-your-face supercar that makes absolutely no concessions in the way of comfort or convenience.

Lamborghini Aventador SV Rumored With 800-HP

You’d think Lamborghini, masters of Italian seduction, would have the good sense to tease us a bit. Maybe don’t give us the goods so soon, and all that. But no, it seems like they’re laying it all out there for us: Lamborghini is going to build a range-annihilating SV model of its Aventador, and approximately 3 people on this planet will be caught off-guard by the news.

Lamborghini Aventador Assembled Inside Museum [Video]

The new Lamborghini Aventador may be six inches longer than the Murcielago it replaces, but that doesn’t mean it can’t fit into some pretty tight spaces.

Recently the maker of Italian exotic cars hand-assembled a version of its new carbon chassis 700-hp supercar in-doors. The car now sits as the main attraction at the “La Forza del Toro” exhibition at the Lamborghini Museum in Rome.

From the chassis, to the body, and then the engine, suspension and more, each part of the Aventador was brought into the confined space and then hand-assembled. There’s no word on how long the whole process took, but you can watch it all unfold in just two minutes.

Chinese Wedding Features 28 Exotic Supercars [video]

Apparently a new trend has been set in China. If you’re wealthy and getting married, better whip out every supercar exotic you can get your hands on and take them out on the street. This particular wedding, in Wenzhou, featured 28 exotic supercars from Ferrari’s 458 Italia to Bentley’s Flying Spur.

At first, it was fun to watch all the supercars parade around for a wedding, but now many local Chinese are finding it a tad repulsive. As with any country experiencing an abundant of wealth, the separation from lower to middle class and middle class to upper class starts to widen. Without surprise some aren’t finding it as amusing as others back in China. As for us? We can’t wait until someone rolls out their own wedding entourage with millions of dollars worth of exotics.

Platinum Motorsports Tears Up the Streets of LA to Make One Epic Video

Taking some of their finest projects and hitting several Los Angeles landmarks while armed with a video camera, Platinum Motorsports has released this video that will make any luxury and exotic lover drool.

The video mainly highlights a Lamborghini LP640 with a matte Reventon Grey paint job, along with a Mercedes-Benz SL550 with a Black Series widebody treatment sporting the same shade. In addition, their Premier 4509 widebody Bentley GT Mulliner also steals the spotlight in matte white and we see glimpses of several Range Rovers.

Twin Turbo Lamborghini LP560-4 Spyder Wrecks at Cars and Coffee [Video]

It may be cliché, but this video is a clear example of the phrase, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

The exact location isn’t known, but the poster of this YouTube video was leaving his local Car & Coffee supercar gathering when things went wrong for the owner of a high-powered Lambo. As though the 500+ horsepower of the LP560-4 Spyder wasn’t enough, this particular model sports a twin-turbo setup by Underground Racing.

Reportedly boasting 1,000-hp, even Lambo’s sophisticated AWD system isn’t enough to keep this modified exotic pointed straight, as the owner finds out, slamming into the median and doing some solid damage to his axles.

We’d bet the owner complains soon and has this video removed, so watch it now while you still can.

UPDATE: According to a post on The Car Lounge, the event happened at a Caffeine & Octane meet in Georgia. The owner blamed his shoe for the crash, and the car itself only sustained ‘minor’ damage.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Spied Testing [Video]

Lamborghini has already teased its new Aventador LP700-4 supercar several times, but now we have some amateur spy video of the Murcielago successor. Better yet, there isn’t just one car, but two of them doing some final shake-downs ahead of the official reveal at the Geneva Auto Show on March 1st.

Taking design inspiration from the Reventon, powering the new Lambo will be a 6.5-liter V12 rated at roughly 690-hp. It will be 18 percent more powerful than the Murcielago, while also emitting 20 percent fewer emissions. As for the transmission, Lamborghini will make use of its new ISR 7-speed transmission – the first use of a 7-speed with a V12 in the industry. With five gear settings, ( auto strada, auto sport, strada, sport and corsa) the innovative transmission will be able to deliver shift times of just 50 ms in Corsa – which is almost as quick as a Formula 1 car.

Weight will be kept to a minimum thanks to a carbon fiber chassis and the LP700-4 will get a pushrod suspension setup, similar to those found on race cars.

As for the rest of the car, it will be more ergonomic than even the Gallardo, with space for larger drivers. The dash will feature a new TFT instrument cluster, meaning that it won’t have traditional physical gauges, but that all instrumentation will be displayed on a screen.

The Aventador is set to debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March. Until then, see AutoGuide’s complete 2011 Geneva Auto Show Preview here.
