BMW’s Centerlock Wheels Now Available For An Absurd Price

BMW’s M Performance Parts Catalog has always given owners a way to improve their M cars, whether for aesthetics, performance, or both.

When BMW debuted the centerlock wheel package for G8X M models in November 2023, U.S. buyers were left out. That’s changing for 2025, but getting a set will require some serious cash. The 10-spoke center lock wheels are now available to North American M3, M4, and M2 owners—At $6,696.07, the wheels alone are expensive, but the cost doesn’t stop there.

Since the factory five-lug hubs are obviously not compatible, a conversion is necessary. BMW offers the centerlocking hub kit for $11,037.90, covering both rear- and all-wheel drive models. Beyond that, BMW suggests several specialized tools and materials for installation, including a release tool ($567), Sythes Glep 1 grease ($49.27), Wuerth Al 1100 aluminum paste ($51.99), a centerlock wheel socket ($323), and a torque wrench rated for at least 1,000 Nm ($1,270). You'll probably want to also look at adding a 3/4 impact gun to your tool box as well.

The total cost adds up to $19,995.23, not including three hours of dealer installation time.

According to a BMW product spokesperson, only seven complete sets are currently available in North America, though more could be supplied depending on demand.

For those using their M cars in competition, the upgrade could have functional benefits by reducing pit stop times—although we're talking amateur racing, which likely has a minimum stop time to promote safety. For the style-conscious buyer, however, it’s a high-cost modification with limited practical benefit beyond aesthetics.

Regardless, BMW probably isn't going to have much trouble selling out the initial batch. Whether it’s worth the investment depends on how much a single nut means to you.
