Data Says Teslas Are Popular Again
In an electrifying twist, Tesla took the top two spots on our monthly list of the most-researched electric vehicles in America in June.
5) Hyundai Ioniq 5
The most practical entry in Hyundai’s arsenal of two-row electric vehicles takes the fifth spot on last month’s list of the most-researched EVs in America. It’s the best-selling electric vehicle from Hyundai, and for good reason. It’s usefully roomy, boasts an attractive and futuristic design, and performs very well. Its swoopier and less practical sibling, the Ioniq 6 electric sedan, is in 20th place on this list.
4) Ford F-150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 Lightning is the only electric pickup truck to earn a spot in the top five. It’s been on the market for several years, giving it a leg up on more recent entries into the expanding segment. The Chevrolet Silverado EV landed in 11th place, and the GMC Sierra EV was the only other truck to make it into the top 25.
3) Chevrolet Equinox EV
Chevy’s entry-level electric crossover dropped from second to third place in June versus May. Regardless of the finishing order, however, the Equinox EV has a lot to offer potential buyers. It's reasonable pricing, strong range ratings, stylish design, and spacious interior combine to entice customers away from Tesla and into their nearest Chevrolet dealership.
2) Tesla Model 3
The top two spots on the list of the most-researched electric vehicles in June both wear the Tesla badge. They finished in the same order that they rank on Tesla’s sales chart. The Model 3 sedan may be older by several years than its Model Y sibling, but the Y, due in part to its roomier crossover shape, is the more popular machine.
1) Tesla Model Y
In the first few months, we were delivered these numbers from our data partner, Tesla didn’t even land a spot in the top five. The May results were the first to see a Tesla in the top spot overall, and the Model Y remained there in June. Because of Tesla’s direct-to-consumer sales model, they don’t always rank highly when compared to its competitors that are sold through more traditional sales channels. Regardless, the Model Y came out on top for the second month in a row.
