2016 Mazda MX-5 Prototype Spied in Japan

This might be the best look yet of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata.

A video has surfaced on YouTube of a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata prototype testing on the streets of Japan heavily camouflaged. What it does reveal is that the next-generation MX-5 will mostly retain the curvy shape we’ve all known on the Miata over the past couple of decades with pronounced wheel arches.

The 2016 Mazda MX-5 will make its debut this September at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and earlier this year, the Japanese automaker revealed its Skyactiv chassis that will help the new MX-5 weigh at least 220 lbs less than the current model.
