Porsche Track Precision App Available for GT Models
Porsche has released a new app for its GT sports car owners.
The Porsche Track Precision app is part of a special Sport Chrono Package, which is only available as an exclusive option for the Porsche GT sports cars Cayman GT4, 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS. The app, which is geared towards owners that take their vehicles to the track, include the pre-fitting for connecting a lap trigger, which is available as an option from Porsche Tequipment. The optional lap trigger allows the user to measure lap times more precisely than using the GPS signal.
As for the Porsche Track Precision app itself, it’ll offer a unique range of functions with data from approximately 60 international racetracks available. Once the user selects their track, it is recommended that they attach the smartphone in a secure mount on the windshield. Once he or she passes the start line, the system will automatically begin to record using GPS data. After crossing the finish line, the user can easily save the data acquired with a tap of a finger.

The app also allows the driver to perform a detailed and objective analysis of their lap times and driving style by using synchronized data and video recordings. While on the track, dynamic performance can be visualized in the form of traction, steering response and longitudinal and lateral acceleration. There’s also an animated “ghost car” so that the driver can reference previous laps.
The Porsche Track Precision app is available for download on the Google Play store or on iTunes.
